Medical Education

From as early as Phase II in a product’s life cycle it is important to start building a base of Opinion Leader support and credible citations to form the clinical foundation for a product as it approaches launch. As more data becomes available and it becomes evident that a product is likely to have significant clinical benefit, this base of support can then be expanded and knowledge cascaded throughout the relevant medical specialists, be they clinicians, nurses, payers etc.

Across the globe, Burson-Marsteller has specialists within its healthcare practices who focus on medical education. Within our teams, we have specialist writers and PhDs who will support clinical teams with the dissemination of data and work closely with key investigators to provide support for clinical trial management. We also have experienced client handlers who work with the marketing and communication teams on strategic positioning and the delivery of key tactics.

Our UK team

The UK is historically the European hub of Medical Education activities. We have a large team that works as an integrated part of our overall healthcare group. We offer both international and UK Medical Education support for leading pharmaceutical companies. This can be either standalone medical education activities or as part of a wider communications programme including PR, which is predominantly where we feel we really add value beyond that of our competitors.

Our team of experts can help you reach Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) with your messages and cascade this information to the wider prescribing base. We have experts in many of the key therapeutic areas with long standing KOL relationships and a deep scientific understanding of the current and future market needs.

What we offer our clients

As an experienced Medical Education team we are continually looking to find new ways to reach the key target audiences. However, our core client work includes:

  • Competitor analysis
  • Publications planning
  • Strategic advisory boards
  • Message development
  • Clinical trial support
  • Clinical data cascade initiatives; including, peer to peer communication kits, satellite symposia, product monographs etc.
  • Launch meetings
  • Internal training materials
