Matt Carter has been the CEO of Burson-Marsteller in the UK since January 2010. Under his leadership, the London office has grown the range of clients and brought in a wide range of new talent. The agency has won a string of awards across 2010-11.

Having a fifteen year communications career providing counsel to those at the top of both business and politics Matt offers clients senior level skill and experience in corporate strategy, reputation management, media training, CEO counsel, and crisis management. In addition he is a recognised expert in polling, message testing and brand positioning based on evidence provided by quantitative polling, focus groups and in-depth interviews. He has advised a wide range of clients in the UK and abroad including Accenture, Sony-Ericsson, Coca Cola and Sky.

Prior to B-M Matt was Managing Director of Penn, Schoen, Berland Associates, a strategy and research firm, where he set up the company’s first office outside the US. At PSB, he took the lessons from the political world and applied them to corporate clients using data and insights from research. From founding the office in 2006, PSB London quickly became one of the fastest growing WPP companies world-wide, working with a range of leading businesses across Europe.

Before PSB, Matt had worked for eight years for the British Labour Party where, as General Secretary (head of the party staff and organisation), he was a key strategist in the 2005 general election - devising and delivering the campaign that won Prime Minister Tony Blair a record third term in government.
